2016 Vineyard Series Greenock Shiraz

Huon Hooke (huonhooke.com)

94 Points - Deep, dark, dense red/purple colour with a marked charred-oak bouquet, smoky, sooty and earthy qualities. The wine is deep and earthy, concentrated and fleshy with a bitter dark chocolate and coal-dusty earthiness, which is very typical of the district. The tannins are soft and the wine is fleshy and delicious in a very savoury way. The oak is just a wee bit overcooked. (630 bottles) 30/3/2018

2019 Wine Companion (Campbell Mattinson)

94 Points - Resiny vanilla characters open the batting but a sure-footed burst of purple berried flavour soon takes the strike. This is very young and needs time to settle but the underlying quality is certain. It's fresh, it's intense, it's perfumed and it's slipped with superfine tannin. There's no shortage of length either.

QWine (www.qwinereviews.com)

92 Points - One of those wines you could sniff away at and be content - there's plenty to amuse...

Burnt toffee, dark chocolate, dark berries, aniseed and clove. Dark and brooding, this is no shy guy. Mulberry fruit glistens with fistfuls of depth and coverage. The cheeky appearance of smoked paprika adds another layer of charm.

Only a pup, stick this away in a dark place for a couple of years til 2020 to see it starting to show its best. It will cellar comfortably beyond a decade. 21/2/2018
