Grower Profile - Fromm Family (Williamstown, Barossa Valley, South Australia)

The Fromm Family have been growing grapes in Williamstown in the Southern Barossa Valley since 1919. Many a Barossa Winemaker rely heavily on the Fromm’s for their highly perfumed fruit. Williamstown borders the Adelaide Hills, typically receives better rainfall and importantly, the fruit ripens earlier than the Northern Vineyards on which we rely.  Not only is the grape quality very high, but this area also provides some insurance for the vineyards further north. 2020 being a classic example where the Fromm fruit was absolutely crucial for Hayes Family Wines. Our vineyard yield was tiny in the West and Northern Barossa. Many of our wines from 2020 will rely heavily on these vineyards. Our 2020 Rose, our first wine to be released from 2020 is made from 100% Fromm fruit.

Their Shiraz, Cabernet, Grenache and Semillon fruit have been something of legend for generations. Our relationship with Ryan and Sally, current custodians goes back many years. They are wonderful people who put the community and their friends first, an enviable attitude in these challenging times. We at Hayes Family Wines are certainly thankful to have them as friends.

Ryan Fromm, current custodian of the Fromm Vineyards in Williamstown, the Barossa Valley, South Australia.
