2025 ESTATE FIELD BLEND BLANC BLOCK 12
GROWING SEASON
The 2025 vintage is best described as a classic Barossa Year. Dry, warm and at times hot. Importantly the nights remained cool and the fruit ripened consistently albeit earlier than recent years producing some of the best grapes we have seen in recent years. This was certainly the good news. But yields in a number of our blocks was challenging. Frosts in the North followed by a 1 in 100 year drought meant that many of our Northern blocks were well down, Koonunga produced zero grapes, our grenache across all our blocks were down by 75% overall, but our shiraz blocks absolutely excelled producing some of our potentially best ever wines.
Our Estate in Stone Well was the exception, producing a ‘normal’ volume crop of exceptional grapes.
TASTING NOTE
From our micro block of rhone white varietals, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Marsanne grown on our Certified Organic Estate Vineyard in Stone Well in the western Barossa Valley. This block of a mere 400 vines produced a tiny crop but the quality was very high and we picked and fermented all 3 varieties together. Intriguing to say the least. This wine is bright, lifted florals, stone fruits, medium bodied and quite textural. Light in alcohol and all the better for it. Our best white wine yet, if only there was more.
