2024 FROMM VINEYARD GRENACHE
GROWING SEASON
The dry winter and spring made the vines work during the early part of the growing season, and bud burst started in September, three weeks earlier than the year before. Damaging frosts particularly, in September and October meant some vineyards had significant damage that influenced their subsequent yield. Veraison in many vineyards was a month earlier than 2023. Whites ripened quickly, retaining good fragrance and natural acids early. Reds, with small berries, show intensity and vibrancy. An unseasonal heatwave in early March caused short-lived concern, but those vines that still had grapes recovered well in the following cooler weather.
Depending on site and variety, crops are anywhere between 50 and 90% of normal. Grenache was standout for quality and yield, Shiraz was well down but looks very good in quality terms. Whites and Rose’ look amazing. We have very high hopes for the vintage in the years to come.
TASTING NOTE
The 2024 Fromm Vineyard Grenache was sourced from the very old Fromm Family Vineyard in Williamstown, in the southern Barossa Valley. 100 % Old vine Grenache from the wonderful 2024 vintage. Farmed by the Fromm’s for over 100 years, it is an isolated block that produces special grapes. Hand picked, the fruit was de-stemmed before being transferred to our small fermenters. Once dry, the wine was transferred into a seasoned French oak puncheons for maturation prior to being bottled in early 2025. This wine carries tremendous balance, bright red fruits, medium bodied, all the hallmarks of the Southern Barossa in a wonderful vintage. Drink now or for 5 years or more

2024 Fromm Vineyard Grenache
Steve Leszczynski (Qwinereviews.com)
93 Points - The Fromm Vineyard sits in the Barossa's deep south and lies within arm's reach of the Adelaide Hills GI. Grown in clay soils, this is a touch more robust than some of the others in the Hayes Family Wines Grenache portfolio.
A wine that is most approachable, it possesses a raft of juicy strawberries, raspberry coulis and a scattering of dried herbs. A little dark chocolate is lobbed over the bow, but the satisfaction comes from its medium-bodied frame. The clay soils from this neck of the woods impart a tannin structure that is a little firmer and muscular delivering a silty-like presence. Above all, you'd be forgiven for seeing a few glasses evaporate in quick time.

2023 Fromm Vineyard Grenache
Aaron Brasher (The Real Review)
Bright red and youthful in the glass. Pretty and fragrant aromas of strawberry, cherry, fruit pastilles, pot-pourri and sweet spice. Crunchy, punchy, light and breezy on the palate. There's a pure drive of red and blue fruits, along with snappy acidity and some shapely, grainy tannins. Smart drinking 2025–2032

2021 Fromm Vineyard Grenache
2023 James Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes)
95 Points - Grenache sourced from the Fromm family vineyard in Williamstown at the southern extremity of the Barossa Valley. Bright red-purple hue. Pure and endearing, with gorgeous red cherry, satsuma plum and cranberry fruit notes, Asian five-spice, red licorice, gingerbread and purple floral high tones. Savoury and moreish with a lovely fruit weight and flow, tannins just right, acidity providing the cadence and a spicy, plummy finish of some length.
Andrew Caillard MW (The Vintage Journal)
92 Points - Medium crimson in colour and immediately approachable with fresh musky plum, herb garden aromas and flavours. Smooth and round with plentiful juicy fruit notes, it is a good example of the slurpy, early drinking grenache style.
