Technical Tasting Notes
2022 Three Kings
GROWING SEASON
The 2022 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as an almost faultless, the second in succession after the wonderful 2021 vintage. Good spring rains meant that we entered the growing season with good soil moisture levels. A cool dry growing season followed, with balanced and healthy canopies producing an average crop of extremely high quality fruit. Certainly the best since last season, the best parcels were truly exceptional. Grenache and Shiraz in particular looked exceptional and so it has turned out. Some of the best wines we have made. The good news is that flavours and colours (in reds) and overall quality is exceptional. A truly great Barossa vintage in the making.

2022 Three Kings
DAVE Brookes (Winecompanion.com)
94 Points - A 'best of' blend of grenache, shiraz and mataro from some renowned vignerons of the northern Barossa. Deep, saturated magenta/crimson with pure and ripe fruit tones of red and black fruits with underlying hints of baking spices, roasting meats, licorice, dark chocolate, purple flowers, earth and olive tapenade. Great sleek palate travel with an almost plum pastille intensity to the fruit, fine, sandy tannins and plenty of drive at the back end.
2021 THREE KINGS
James Halliday (Winecompanion.com)
96 Points - A blend of 45/35/20% grenache/shiraz/mataro ex three leading growers, each to one variety. It has an utterly exceptional colour, soft as silk mouthfeel and a seamless fusion of flavours. Equally enjoyable is the alcohol, which tastes closer to 13.5% than 14.5%.
Decanter Magazine (Tasted by: MATT WALLS)
94 Points - The name Three Kings refers to the three top red grapes of the Barossa, and the three leading families from whom they are sourced. Namely: Grenache from the Beckers, Shiraz from the Hoffmanns and Mataro from the Schulz family. Full-bodied and silky, with great intensity and vibrancy, plus a saline finish.
