A number Hayes Family Wines’ are featured including the soon to be released 2021 Estate Grenache, Estate Mataro and the Grenache Blanc. Many of our Grenache’s and Mataros that will be released in the future are also featured. It is a great read. I learnt a lot, I am sure you will too

You will be able to access some of the wines reviewed very soon (Estate Release is June 1), otherwise on September 1 when we release the first of the single vineyard Grenache and Mataro’s. Rest assured, they loved our wines. Here are a few thoughts on a couple of their favourites below.

2021 Estate Grenache Block 2 - 96 Points - Medium-deep crimson. Intense yet reserved musky plum, dark cherry aromas with herb garden notes tinged with truffle and spice. Richly concentrated and buoyant plum, dark cherry, boysenberry fruits, fine slinky al dente textures and integrated juicy acidity are all superbly balanced with lovely mid-palate volume and density to finish.

2021 Estate Mataro Block 3 - 97 Points - Deep crimson. Intense and vibrant dark cherry, chinotto, bitter dark chocolate panforte aromas. Superbly concentrated with dense blackberry pastille fruits, fine chocolaty tannins and brilliantly integrated savoury, mocha oak notes before finishing bittersweet with superb density, richness of flavour and torque. A wonderful mataro.
