2024 Hutton Vale Farm Eden Valley Riesling

$34.00

Our Single Block 'Vineyard Series' Hutton Vale Farm Riesling from the wonderful 2024 vintage comes from historic Hutton Vale Farm in the Eden Valley. Very Old Vines grown on a property that has been in the Angas family since South Australian settlement in the 1830s. The Vineyard is dry grown and very low yielding, but the resulting wines have been proven to stand the test of time.

Very old vine Riesling carry’s a distinctive lemon rind and field flowers perfume like no other, I could smell this wine for hours. The crip natural acidity although quite apparent at this stage of its life will carry this wine for many years for those with the right cellar conditions. Serve with the finest seafood now or cellar as long as you like, your choice. A classic wine in the making.

Technical Tasting Notes

2024 HUTTON VALE FARM EDEN VALLEY RIESLING

GROWING SEASON

The 2024 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as an almost perfect year, warm, dry with a few days of heat in March. Whites ripened quickly, retaining good fragrance and natural acids early. Whites and Rose’ look amazing. We have very high hopes for the vintage in the years to come.

TASTING NOTE

Hutton Vale Farm has been in the Angas family since the 1830s, a special vineyard that is still owned by one of the foundation families of South Australia. Growing conditions are tough in Eden Valley, but in the right year when the weather gods support the dry grown vineyards with good winter rains the wines can be exceptional. Hutton Vale Farm in the 2024 vintage is one such vineyard, very old Riesling vines that carry a distinctive perfume like no other, I could smell this wine for hours. The crip natural acidity although quite apparent at this stage will carry this wine for many years for those with the right cellar conditions. Serve with the finest seafood or cellar as long as you like, your choice. You will be rewarded.

Region/Sub Region: 100% Eden Valley
Grape Variety: 100% Riesling
Alcohol: 12.0%
Production: 2000 bottles
Cellaring: 10 years plus

Serve: This wine will match well with a variety of seafood and salad dishes in its youth before developing secondary characters after 3-4 years and providing a perfect match for more robust Fish, Chicken and Pork based dishes with age.

Winemaker: Jo Irvine
