Spring in the Barossa Valley

With the cold and wet of winter now behind us, the freshly pruned vines will soon awake to the joys of Spring. With warm days and good soil moisture levels from our winter rain (the best in some years), our vines have plenty of energy for the season ahead. As you can see from the photo above, we have hit budburst, when the first shoots of the new season break through. It is always an exciting time, anticipating what the 2022 season will produce.

Spring is a wonderful time to be in the Barossa, but if you cannot make it here, then we have some delicious wines that can bring the tastes of Barossa in Spring to your door. Our newly bottled Barossa Valley Rose, which is always a crowd favourite, comes in 750ml as well as Magnum this year - perfect for afternoon drinks with friends. This year we have two single vineyard Semillons, both fruity and refreshing as the weather gets warmer. These wines are even more exciting given they come from the 2021 vintage, clearly one of the best vintages of past decade, if not longer.

The Months Ahead

For Andrew and myself, it is also time to review the fruits of vintages past. All the barrels of 2021 Grenache and Mataro, and the 2020 Shiraz barrels are being evaluated, assessed and ultimately classified for bottlings later this year and into next. Watch out for when they are released!
