2021 Fromm Vineyard Shiraz

2021 Fromm Vineyard Shiraz

$70.00

($59.50 Wine Club price)

Our Single Block 'Vineyard Series' Fromm Vineyard Shiraz from the sensational 2021 vintage comes from an old patch of shiraz grown in Williamstown by the Fromm Family. Williamstown being elevated and further south is cooler and typically wetter than the Northern Barossa. Resulting wines tend to be more red fruited, but can by powerful as this wine shows in a great season.

2021 FROMM VINEYARD SHIRAZ

GROWING SEASON
The 2021 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as an almost faultless season after the challenging years that preceded it. Good spring rains meant that for the first time in many years we entered the growing season with good soil moisture levels. A warm dry growing season followed, with balanced and healthy canopies producing an average crop of extremely high quality fruit. Certainly the best in a decade, maybe longer. The good news is that flavours and colours (in reds) and overall quality is exceptional. A truly great Barossa vintage in the making.

TASTING NOTE
The wine wears the sensational 2021 vintage on its sleave, rich yet red fruited, powerful and fruit forward. This wine is destined to age very well but if you choose to drink young, best done with some airtime and some substantial food offering.

2021 Vineyard Series FROMM Shiraz

QWine (www.qwinereviews.com)

94 Points - This is a beauty and just gets better and better. I thought it was on fire on day two of tasting but it continued to impress as time went on. Get around this fabulous Single Vineyard Barossa Shiraz.

The colour leaps out and catches the eye immediately. Some cedar and vanilla partner with the generous dark berry fruit. The Fromm vineyard sits at the south end of the Barossa at Williamstown, tip-toeing the Adelaide Hills GI border. The vineyards that far south have plenty of clay soils and that can be seen in the tannins that slide through. Soft, exotic spices unfurl but the presence and mouthfeel are luxurious. The density yet silky feels stand out. It's a great drink now but will continue to improve in the long term.

93 Points - Shiraz from the Fromm family vineyard in the southern subregion of Williamstown. Deep magenta with vibrant fruit aromas of black cherry, satsuma plum and raspberry. There is a whiff of teacake and dark spices in the mix here, along with licorice, dark chocolate, clove, bay leaf and some orange blossom top notes. Excellent fruit weight, a little moody and broody but showing great depth with plenty of tannin bite and latent power chugging away under the bonnet.
