Rutherglen Muscat is truly one of the great wines of the world. When it gains age, true age, it has a unique flavour profile that cannot be replicated. But, old muscat’s are getting rare. Often blended, single vintage fortifieds are rare, 50 year old single barrels particularly so. Fortunately for you, many years ago I started accumulating fortifieds. No real plan but in the hope that one day they would be appreciated.
This is one such batch. A single barrique of 1972 Single Vintage Rutherglen Muscat. Trust me, it is amazing. It has a depth of flavour that clearly signals its age, sweet but balanced by high acidity such that it does not show. Drink now

TASTING NOTE
Drinking just beautifully on release. This Muscat has everything you could possibly desire in a fortified, incredible depth of flavour, length with incredible age. Sweet yes, but finishes clean almost refreshing. A wonderful wine to savour by yourself or with truly special people.
